The HBS group are one of the UK's leading school supplies providers. In 2017 they decided they wanted to develop their Early Years offering. The first step was to develop a range of foundation and KS1 products. Focal Creative was asked to design a publication featuring all these great new products. We worked closely with the team at HBS but also education marketing consultant Mike Dymond, who handled product selection. In regards to design, the client wanted a distinct, colourful but most importantly practical aesthetic. A catalogue which was easy to use and explore and made the most of page space without looking cluttered. The layouts used were designed to have flexible elements helping to create distinct and diverse spreads. The use of bold colourful product icons adds another design element as well as a useful tool to relate key information to the user. The result, a very readable and shoppable publication which provides the perfect first steps into the Early Years sector for HBS.
